DV in Tucson
Hi folks,
We're in Tucson now...it was nearly 100 degrees today. It's a dry heat so it actually feels great, and everyplace seems to have air conditioning anyway. Definitely a change from San Francisco in every way...weather, flora, fauna...last night we saw a few wild boars, called javelin, right at the back of our hosts' home. We also saw a giant tarantula hanging out on the back porch, and about a million cacti.
We've been so lucky to meet up with a bunch of old and new friends already on week 1 of our trip. Pics of Pauline & Dena below - we'll meet up with her again in Chicago, and she performed two pieces in the LA show. Sean with Dorsey as well, eating pizza after the LA performance. I'm also posting photos of the fabulous street musicians in Venice - it's hard to tell, but the trombone player is also playing snare and bass drums with his feet, and the accordion player is playing the tambourine with his foot as well. And of course another photo in front of the "DOUBLE VISION" boutique.
We did the 10 hour drive from LA to Tucson yesterday, with each of us getting lost in our own special way in Joshua Tree National Park. It was amazing and gorgeous and huge, and somehow all three cars figured out how to get in through different entrances dozens of miles from each other: frog/elephant/bison through the west gate, puma/turtle through the north gate, giraffe/eagle through the south gate. We all eventually made it safe and sound to our host, Patrick, who has done an amazing job coordinating our show here, which promises to be one of the coolest things we do on this whole tour. More on that eventually.
Today was a big rehearsal day in the theater and we're about to go out to dinner, YAY!
