Phoenix is hot
Hi everyone,
We have a lecture/demonstration today in the Phoenix area at Arizona State University. The theater is great and everyone associated with ASU has been incredibly hospitable and helpful. We're all excited because John Jaspers is attending and bringing a bunch of people with him!
We had a show at the Trunk Space in Phoenix on Tuesday night - the tiny venue was endearing with Noodle the cat, old timey soda drinks and edgy products for sale...but had no air conditioning and the stage was a carpeted 5 foot triangle. The dancers realized we could perform in our socks (shoes caught on the carpet, bare feet were dangerous and dirty), and sean set up the projector on an angle to hit a side wall. Eventually all the technology overheated - definitely a show for the history books. We had about 20 people in the audience, which was about as many people as fit in the space. Most of whom heard about the show in the local paper, which had a profile of Double Vision. Thanks for coming, everyone!
Yesterday we spent 5 hours in the theater prepping Three Canons and Video Action Painting for today's demonstration, and then Pauline and Sean hung out with about 15 family members while the dancers went for margaritas and guacamole at Spotted Donkey Cantina (grainy photos below). We're back in Tempe today for a tour of ASU's media department and our performance at 1:30--and then we immediately drive to Tucson for the dress rehearsal at University of Arizona.
Each of us is sporting bug bites, possibly thanks to fleas on Noodle the cat. We're covering up with makeup for the show today, since hotpants and red itchy welts don't really mix. All in all, we love Phoenix as long as there is air conditioning. Many thanks to our host Andrea for her hospitality!
